Wedding DIY: Part 2

Wedding DIY: Part 2

Florals is a difficult DIY project to take on. This is because you will have to have someone the day of your wedding having to set it all up. This will most likely have to be yourself and your bridesmaids, your groom, and his groomsmen, other any other loved one. If you have it in your budget, this could also be your wedding coordinator (day or week of coordinator).

Flowers are a time sensitive matter. Which is why some couples prefer silk/foam flowers over fresh florals for their wedding. This way they can get their florals done weeks ahead of time and just worry about having them clean and ready for their big day.

Whether you choose to have fresh flowers, fake, or a mix of both, below are some DIY projects to help you gain some inspiration.

I would recommend to also check out Part 1 of the "Weddin DIY" blog post, to go over some general tips over DIYing some of your wedding.

Boutonnieres

Wedding boutonnieres are something that can be easily put together. You may need to practice beforehand. I would also recommend doing these before you start on your bouquets (if you plan on doing them yourself. Here are the most popular artificial flowers on Amazon.

Bouquet

Whether you plan to buy fake flowers for your bouquet or get real flowers, it's important that you love your bouquets.

If you plan to go with real flowers, a good deal can be found with Costco bulk flowers. Another way to do this, if you don't mind taking a bit of a trip early in the morning, is to go downtown to your flower district (if you have one) and buying them there. This is an alternative to Costo's bulk flowers that allows you to pick the flowers in person.

Below is a comprehensive video on how to make your bridal bouquet. You can hang out with your bridesmaids the day before your wedding, have some drinks and make your wedding bouquets. This can be a fun way to get ready for the big day and hang out.

Table Decor

If you are planning to have fresh flowers on your tables it's a good idea to place the stems of the flowers into water tubes or floral foam. This will ensure that your flowers keep fresh throughout your event.

Below is a great video on how to make a beautiful garland yourself.

A tip, if you are having multiple tables, is to buy the garland and flowers on Costo's website, and assemble them yourself. Garlands can be very time consuming to put together.

When purchasing flowers from Costco, make sure that you order them 2 weeks in advance from the day that you would like for them to arrive. Also, make sure that you have buckets ready to go and water spray bottles to keep your florals fresh.

Other DIYs

Here a few other DIYs to help you spice up your floral decor and tables.

Below is a video on how to create a rustic lantern. This lantern is big enough for outdoors, which you can place around your venue, but you can also adjust the measurements and make smaller lanterns for your tables.

Here are some videos to help you create a Pinterest worthy backdrop for your sweetheart table, your lounge area, photo booth backdrop, or pretty much anywhere you want to add a floral touch!

The beauty of these paper flowers is that you can create them in any color combination you want weeks ahead and simply store them in a place where they won't get wet or dusty.
